Hey, this is Vincent Lubasi, one of the programmers working on Momentus! I am here to talk about the tools K.A.T. (Kill And Terminate unit) will[LK1] have to fight the robotic horde and defeat the AI of Veraxus.
To aid in the expedient dispatching [LK2] of enemy robots, KAT has two movement abilities to help. Aside from the basic movement and jump, KAT also has an air dash which gives KAT the ability to either close the distance from the enemy or phase through them and get away. If the dash is used on the ground, KAT will instead slide along the ground. KAT’s other movement ability is attaching to specialized walls using the power of magnets. This allows KAT to have higher mobility and traverse dangerous hazards.
With a name like “Momentus” it makes sense that the gameplay would feel fast and aggressive. So, we encourage this playstyle by having KAT’s health constantly decaying. The only way to recover lost health is by dispatching enemies. When KAT’s health is full, they can then start to gain Overcharge which does not drain and improves coroutines.
Coroutines At the cost of Overcharge or Health, KAT can activate one of their coroutines to aid in battle!
Voltaic Arc: Channeling the android’s power into the sword. KAT slashes through the air which causes an energy rift. As it soars through the sky, it cuts down any enemies unfortunate to be in its path.
Recursive Razor: KAT hurls their sword spiraling through the air and buries itself in an enemy. KAT can then either pull themself to the sword’s location or recall the sword back to their hands, ripping the sword out of the target and returning to its master.
Condensed Heat: KAT builds up energy in their core and creates a bubble that flings back nearby enemies caught in its expansion
Blade Dance: By supercharging all functions, time slows down to a stop. KAT then dashes around the room, appearing for only a moment to dispatch an enemy before moving to the next one
