Mission Launch: Engaging Target!

The planet of Veraxis is on a rampage and must be stopped. Earth has observed it consuming other planets to fortify itself and become stronger. It’s next target: Earth. With its insatiable hunger to grow, it moves from one planet to the next with nothing standing in its way. If we don’t act now, Earth will be destroyed. Get ready soldier. it’s time to fight your way into Veraxis!

Protagonist

Equipped with state-of-the-art defense technology and weaponry, you are ready to neutralize anything within the reach of your blade. Receiving signals sent by mission control, use everything at your disposal as you descend toward the biomechanical, sentient core of Veraxis. Your mission will not be easy and you will be going in alone. We trust you to take care of this crisis. Since we don’t know how long you are going to be in the planet, you have been built to take energy from the robots that you vanquish. The more you destroy, the stronger you can become.

Abilities

Since you are probably new to the whole robot AI thing, here’s a quick rundown of what abilities you are going to be using on your mission. Warning: some will expend your energy to activate these.

Blade Dance briefly exceeds your normal functioning limits, causing a massive increase in your movement almost to the point that time stops. You then quickly dash around to the closest enemies, destroy them and then return to origin.

Overheat is a protective ability. After being surrounded by enemies, you turn your blade and thrust it into the ground, producing a protective barrier around you, throwing enemies away, and blocking projectiles.

Air Dash allows you to dash a short distance forward while you are still airborne. When approaching some walls, the magnets in your feet are activated, allowing for wall-running.

Energy Blast transfers some of your energy to your sword, you launch an arc of lighting at enemies in front of you. After a short period of time, the player throws an arc of electricity that destroys anything electronic in its way.

Environment

Using satellite images taken of the planet, the world looks very metallic on the outside and we assume that the core of the planet is biomechanical. If it started off anything like earth, it’s got to have some Earth, mantle or core on the inside. From what our satellites have seen, it looks like they just build on what is already, constantly expanding. We have seen a few small plant-like metal structures, but don’t know what purpose they might serve?

Mission Timeline

Since your testing results in the simulator stand out among your peers, you have been chosen to embark on this mission. The shell of your robot is already on its way.

Currently, Momentus began development In September 2021 and will be released on Itch.io and exhibited at the UW-Stout Game Expo in May 2022. The team and I hope to see you there – or, you can download and suit up online!
